American Babylon
by Richard John Neuhaus

Drawing upon the Babylonian exile of the Israelites, Neuhaus considers how modern believers must be in the world, but not a worldly people. That we must seek the welfare of the place God has put us in and pray on its behalf.

Throughout the book Neuhaus advises a disciplined skepticism of politics and politicians and blames Christians on both sides of the political spectrum for our current political woes. This, another of those books that makes you stop every few pages and think about what you have read, there is plenty for you to agree and disagree with no matter what your political leanings are. An excellent book. Thanks to a friend for letting me borrow it for as long as I had it.
